Hi, what is the difference between "zijn" en "wezen", e.g. "dat kan wel zijn/wezen, maar..."

Thanks,

Seaman

Hello Seaman

Zijn is the normal word for 'to be'. Wezen is mainly used in the spoken language, and in a number of expressions. In case of doubt it's best to use zijn.

wezen = being. This is not a verb here!

Seaman is right. Although het wezen ('creature', 'being', or 'essence' is related, it is not a verb form.
