| Is Frisian Dutch? |
Frisian is not a dialect or variety of Dutch but a separate West Germanic language. In fact it is the closest relative of English. It is spoken in Friesland, a province of the Netherlands, as well as in parts of Northern Germany and on the West coast of Denmark, and on a string of islands off the North Sea coast. |
